Bio-Dome Plant Life Support System Only 28 prims
This massive, 30 meter geodesic bio-dome contains plants from various planets, including Earth. Its thirty meter greenhouse dome has a translucent hexagonal surface containing an artificial atmosphere to propagate samples of flora and shrubs from Earth. There are even a few plant specimens of alien origin, too, so keep a lookout for those waving tendrils. The dome has an Exosphere bulkhead door leading to an entrance tunnel airlock that leads up a ramp and through the iris door into the dome itself. The interior of the Bio-Dome's high vaulted ceiling has a set of powerful lights for daylight simulation. The dome even has a storage area underneath its base. At the far end of the dome there is the Bio-Control room. This is a small semi-transparent geosphere housing the Dome's control systems. The Dome also has Weather Control and free extra add-ins for the interior, such as foliage, rocks and samples of alien plant-life. Underneath the Dome is a maintenance and storage area also suitable for RP but this area has no official access.. Extra parts are added using magnetic plates. You can use this Exosphere Magno-Bolt technology to join up the magnetic plates on the accessories - just touch the plates and watch them align themselves. Make sure that you touch the one you want to move, first! It's up to you which ones you position, so you can add, remove or swap them about to suit yourself. And they're all copyable and modifiable. Special Weather Control features. The Bio-Control room is in a smaller geodesic dome accesses through a tunnel at the rear of the main dome. It is from here that the technicians can control the Dome's operations. It has a side tech panels, a curved bank of computer displays arranged in an arc and three large Artificial Weather Generators, which keep the plants fed and irrigated. Touching the Artificial Weather Generators will turn them on and off which will affect the conditions inside the dome. When an Artificial Weather Generator is active, the panel surface will turn green to show it is working. When you first rez the Dome, the weather generators will automatically switch on, purging the system ready for use. You'll have to make your way from the entrance, across the Dome and through the passage into the rear Bio-Control room and switch them off manually. They will probably need to be recycled at least once through their "green panel" phase before they sync. Wear suitable clothing, as you will get wet and may get soaked. | Bio-Control - Mist Generator. Touching the Mist Generator control unit mounted in the Bio-Control room will switch on/off a humidifying white mist that rises up through hidden gratings through the flooring and spreads slowly outwards from the centre to the edges of the dome. This ensures all the plants get a good soaking. It is also great for RP when hunting that alien on the loose somewhere in the Starbase. Bio-Control - Rainstorm Generator. The Rain Generator control unit, when touched, turns on the powerful sprinklers, simulating a heavy downpour. The interior of the dome is drenched with a realistic torrential deluge. The rainstorm will continue until turned off. It should be ok to enter the Dome as long as you wear protective clothing - or take an umbrella! Bio-Control - Fog Generator. The fog is actually a nutrient-rich particle cloud that is used to feed the plants. However, just make sure no one is present in the dome when you turn it on as it pumps out a thick, heavy dust cloud and cuts the visibility down to one or two meters. You really don't want to be caught inside the dome when this is turned on, especially if you have installed the Alien Plants. The Bio-Dome module has its own soil layer, but comes with extra accessories you can add to enhance the internal appearance. Just rez them and them touch the magnetic plates to automatically align them together. There are two Magno Bolt plates, set into opposite sides of the Dome, to which to attach your accessories. HINT: Rez them outside the Dome so you can find the plates easily. And touch the accessory plate first, because that's the one that will move. Bio-Dome Foliage and Plants - Magno-Bolt Layer: [12 prims] This contains the layers of Earth-based plants, trees, shrubs, grasses and flowers. These have been designed to look thick, luxurious growth but with a low prim count. The bio-technicians have detected pollen spores that can occasionally be seen floating around among the foliage and leaves. Bio-Dome Geology - Magno-Bolt Layer: [17 prims] This installs natural boulders and bedrock in the Dome, including stone arches and rocky outcrops. You also get some giant mushrooms and toadstools included. One of the mushrooms has its own colony of little black particle flies that can be seen hovering around their stalks. Bio-Dome Alien Plants - Magno-Bolt Layer: [17 prims] This is the weird one. Semi-sentient carnivorous plants from the planet Mandrake-Sigma 7 have been grown in the Dome and are now thriving. The plants have thin tendrils that thrash around, trying to catch edible items. Some of the plants have thickened out to worryingly large proportions - we're still not sure what they are finding to eat. |
